Barcelona 2-8 Bayern Munich LIVE! Champions League result, goals, match stream, news and latest Messi reaction

Bayern outlined why they are the team to beat in this season's Champions League with a stunning 8-2 quarter-final demolition of Barcelona in Lisbon.

The German champions blitzed Barca with four goals in the opening 31 minutes, adding four more in the second, to set up a semi-final with Manchester City or Lyon.

It was a mesmerising performance, helped by a horror show from Barca as a brace from Thomas Muller was complemented by goals from Ivan Perisic and Serge Gnabry put them 4-1 up at the break.

Joshua Kimmich, Robert Lewandowski and a brace from Barca loanee Philippe Coutinho inflicted a heaviest ever European defeat on the Catalans as Hansi Flick's side ran riot. Boss Quique Setien will pay the price for this embarrassment, coming after a limp end to their league campaign.

Historic Humiliation!'

The Spanish press have unsurprisingly torn into Barcelona after they were knocked out of the Champions League in humiliating fashion by Bayern Munich last night.

Spanish newspaper AS ran the headline ‘Humillacion Historica’ – historic humiliation – while Marca went with ‘Verguenza’ – shame.

Mundo Deportivo called the defeat the ‘end of an embarrassing cycle’, coming amid a season of turmoil at board level and marking the third season in a row in which Barca have been knocked out of the Champions League in embarrassing fashion, following the blown leads against Roma and Liverpool.

AS’s player ratings only bothered to attribute marks to Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba, with the rest of the Barcelona side deemed too bad to even get a mark.

French paper L’Equipe, renowned for its harsh ratings, gave Suarez a four, with no other Barca player getting higher than a three. Setien was graded one-out-of-ten.

Goretzka says embarrassing Messi and Barcelona ‘was fun’

Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka was certainly not awash with sympathy for Barcelona after they inflicted the heaviest defeat suffered by the Catalans in a European competition.

So much of the build-up to the match was dominated by the question: Will Lionel Messi’s brilliance be enough to stop the collective strength of Bayern Munich?

Philosophy of Jesus Christ

Philosophy of Jesus Christ     by   Damien F. Mackey   The Philosophy of Jesus Christ - restoring Christian philosophy to its biblical roots, with Jesus Christ, Wisdom Incarnate, as the focal point. The Fathers of the Church rightly recognised the profound influence of Hebrew wisdom, the Bible, upon the Greco-Roman world. As‘Salvation is of the Jews’, so is Wisdom. “Jesusappealed to God’s previous revelation in the Hebrew Scriptures (Matt. 5:17–19; John 10:31) and issued authoritative revelations of His own as God Incarnate”. … Jesus reasoned carefully about the things that matter most — a handy definition of philosophy. His teachings, in fact, cover the basic topics of philosophy. …. “As an apologist for God’s truth, He defended the truth of the Hebrew Scriptures as well as His own teachings and actions” (Fr. Anthony Zimmerman).     Introduction   The consideration of Jesus Christ as a philosopher is not entirely new...

God Said, “Go”

I  gave my heart to Jesus today. It’s a sentence I want to exhale every night as I crawl into bed and close my eyes. I want to slumber knowing that I gave my soul to my Savior. I want to wake knowing that my life is the Lord’s from sunrise to sunset. In a world spinning in sin, I want it to be well with my soul. I know that means forgiving mistakes and mountains made out of molehills. It means bended knees and surrendered will. I seek to trust Him. I’ve learned that life isn’t easy, inside faith or out. But choosing to be “in” is key. I’m all in. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). * Life on the Road I drove six hours round trip every weekend for much of 2012 and early 2013. My daughter and I lived out of suitcases, spending five-day weeks in one town and two-day weekends at another. We left recipes, toys, refrigerator notes, familiar beds, and the family room and set out for the schoo...
